Modern Publisher Postcards
Modern Aviation is well represented on postcards. There are around 30 publishers who issue new postcard sets regularly; j.j.postcards is one of them. These modern postcards are so-called publisher postcards. Collecting modern postcards has become very popular around 15 to 20 years ago. In that period air transport has gradually changed from the way of transport for the rich to the transport for everybody. Collecting aviation postcards took about the same development. Today j.j.postcards is proud to offer more than 14.000 modern publisher postcards at competitive prices. Feel free to browse in our data files through the large variety of postcards on offer.

Old Cards Are Rare
On the other hand postcard views from the early 70s back to the first days of civil aviation are very rare. A few postcards picturing early jet or prop planes have been issued by modern postcard publishers. We were able to include some old views in our own sets too. But most of the cards showing older views are actually old cards and were printed in the same period as the view dates from. Many people are collecting a mix of modern and old cards such as all cards published by airline companies or all airport cards.

Getting Old Cards in Auctions
Don't hesitate to ask us for the photocopies of our auction cards we are having every one to two months. Old cards are more expensive than modern cards. Their prices vary a lot. At postcard shows you might be able to get an old card at a real bargain price of may-be 5 US$ and you might find that very same card at another dealer for 40 US$. Auction prices might be a bit higher but taking into account that you don't have any other expenses (e.g. expenses for travelling to the show place) even cards you buy in an auction are worth their money. We have very large archives of old cards we will gradually put into future auctions or which we will list eventually at fixed prices. As this is a very time consuming job we will need at least until early 2001 to start with listing old cards. We will keep you informed.
